Finally returning home after being kicked from his pro esports team, Ash finds a cryptic letter. Upon reading it, he is whisked away to the world of an MMORPG. Beyond the already absurd situation, the system meant to guide all those summoned fails to synchronize with him correctly. After accidentally forcing himself into the tutorial before the error can be corrected, Ash’s existence becomes a glitch in the world. The new body he finds himself in keeps phasing through all matter. The only thing keeping him from falling through the world itself is the clothes on his back. Eventually, he finds a loophole and is able to interact with the game for short windows. Though if he isn’t careful, the fatal side effect of the glitch could claim his life at any moment. Although the glitch came with powerful advantages to offset its drawbacks, Ash was the worst possible person to receive it because it forced him to rely on party members — something he struggled with, having never needed to do so in any past game he had played. Being the best at whatever video game he touched was never a choice for Ash, but simply a fact. That’s not to say he didn’t put in the work, but that the mentality of superiority had been drilled into him from a young age, cultivating a haughty, self-centered disposition. It was a flaw he would have to overcome while learning to trust the very people he would have once looked down on if he wanted any chance of returning home, all while living in a world that rejected his existence.
