Mortarion Krieg was once the feared High Marshal of the Aurellian Empire, a ruthless conqueror known across the world as Death’s Disciple. After slaying the last of four legendary beasts, he dies in victory and awakens before Death itself. Offered a second life, Mortarion is sent into the era of the Dance of the Dragons, a time when House Targaryen stands at the height of its power and civil war threatens to tear the realm apart. Reborn with High Valyrian blood, a mighty dragon, ancient armour and an army waiting to be summoned, he is tasked with preventing catastrophic bloodshed and preparing the world for the greater threat gathering in the north.
